Classic Entourage Magazine: Can you tell us about your journey as a DJ, starting in 2012 and the various countries you’ve traveled to for your performances?
Carol D’Souza: First of all, thank you for the contact and the opportunity. Look, I started very young, at the time it was still a male-dominated industry, which wasn’t so easy at first, although I tried to make my presence felt from an early age. As time went by, I began to make my presence felt and opportunities arose. I’ve travelled to countries such as Spain, France, Italy, Slovenia and Croatia.
CE Mag: What inspired you to pursue a career in Hard Techno, and how do you believe your unique style has contributed to your identity in the electronic music industry?
Carol D’Souza: Well, I’ve had the opportunity to play many different genres of electronic music, from Techno House to Techno, but it was in Hard-Techno that I found the perfect beat…ah ah ah ah! The fact that I was a girl, now a woman, playing a fast, pulsating record made all the difference.

CE Mag: In 2023, you released three EPs: “Like do it,” “I’m Telling,” and “Inside You.” Can you share the inspiration behind each EP and the creative process involved in producing them?
Carol D’Souza: I try to look for inspiration from many different sources such as personal experiences, emotions, films or even other musical genres to get new ideas and influences.

CE Mag: The latest releases in 2023, “Like do it,” “I’m Telling you,”and “Inside You,” were on different labels. Can you tell us about your decision- making process in choosing The Acid Mind for two of the EPs and DSR digital for “Inside You”?
Carol D’Souza: Of course, the ep’s ‘Like do it’ and ‘I’m telling You‘ are groovier techno tracks, so I wanted them to be released by a label of that caliber and that’s where Acid Mind came in. With regard to the ‘Inside You‘ EP, they are faster tracks, very much in keeping with my dancefloor style, so I looked for a label more geared to that style, and DSR Digital was the choice.
CE Mag: “Like do it” and “I’m Telling you” both have two tracks, while “Inside You” features four tracks. How do you approach structuring your EPs, and how does the number of tracks influence the overall narrative of the release?
Carol D’Souza: I’m an apologist that an EP shouldn’t contain too many tracks, and when I sent the tracks to Acid Mind in conversation with Gustavo (the label’s owner) we thought it would be ideal to do two releases of two tracks each, and so it was. As for the ‘Inside You‘ EP, it’s an EP that tells a narrative, so it didn’t make sense to release it in any other way than four tracks.
CE Mag: Could you describe the overall theme or concept behind your EP “Inside You,” released on DSR digital in 2023?
Carol D’Souza: As I said, it’s an EP that tells a narrative, an EP with faster beats that are very much my track record… stronger, more incorporated bass, where I provide vocals on two of the tracks, so it has my signature stamp all over it.

CE Mag: What challenges and rewards do you find in collaborating with both national and international DJs, and how has it influenced your growth as an artist?
Carol D’Souza: We’re always learning, at least I am, and being able to share a booth with great national and international artists and follow their work closely only adds to my process. Of course, when this happens, I always feel a greater responsibility as a DJ. At first, I was a little afraid, afraid of not being up to scratch, afraid of even failing … but nowadays it’s very rewarding.
CE Mag: Looking ahead to 2024, you’ve mentioned promising new releases. Can you provide a sneak peek or share any details about what your fans can expect?
Carol D’Souza: In 2024 you can expect many new releases, both VA’s and Ep’s. Some are already counting down, just wait…ah ah!
CE Mag: As an artist, how do you stay connected with your audience, and what role do platforms like social media play in your interaction with fans?
Carol D’Souza: Who would we be without social media, right? Nowadays, digital platforms are our greatest tool for staying in touch with our audience, and publicizing and interacting with them is 50% of our work.
CE Mag: In an ever-evolving electronic music scene, how do you see your style evolving, and are there any specific elements or influences you’re excited to explore in your upcoming releases?
Carol D’Souza: Electronic music is stronger than ever, and Hard-Techno, which was once a less fashionable record, has reached the biggest festival stages all over the world…although music is constantly on the move, I believe that the record is here to stay for a long time, I hope.
